Author/Survivor/Advocate

Tim McDonald is a colorectal cancer survivor, healthcare advocate, and community builder with over 17 years of experience connecting people and driving meaningful change. After his cancer diagnosis, Tim transformed his patient journey into a mission — spending the past five years advocating for patients across multiple organizations including Fight Colorectal Cancer, Man Up To Cancer, COLONTOWN, the PAN Foundation, and HOPA, where he works to ensure patient voices are at the center of research and clinical trial design.
By day, Tim serves as a Community Manager at Raptive, helping creators build deeper connections with their audiences. That same passion for community fuels his advocacy work, where he bridges the gap between patients, researchers, and the organizations working to improve cancer care.
Tim is the host of the Advocacy at Work podcast, where he explores how everyday people can turn their experiences into impact, and the author of From Patient to Advocate: Turning Survivorship Into Impact, available March 2026.
